The telecoms operators have a part to play - important channel partners for the
IPT and software vendors.
However, partial management is the norm today.

Summary
UC is more of a vision than a solution – the vision is bringing together the
voice and software collaboration environments through common
resources and interfaces.
Technology evolution & enterprise needs are pushing for UC.
UC ecosystem is complex: technological, content, behaviour and
business models.
Companies have different UC needs. SI skills are key to address LEs.
Both IP telephony and SW collaboration vendors have an important part
to play. Most companies will have a mixed vendor environment for many
years. It is important that vendor applications inter-work.
Carriers will also play an important role linking the spread assets of the
virtual enterprises. Network infrastructure are at the base of the UC
building blocks, extending company asset access to remote locations and
mobile users.
